Veteran and Military Success Center Student Success Programs

Health and Wellness

Student veterans with newly acquired injuries are just beginning to develop an understanding of how their disability may affect their learning and integration into Purdue. Committed to inclusion and access, the University provides a variety of resources to help support students' sustained health and functional management of their disabilities. In addition to the following programs, staff at the Veteran and Military Success Center can refer individuals to on-campus resources aimed at helping students maintain their physical and emotional well-being.

Disability Resource Center

The DRC is the campus department designated by the University to ensure universal access to University classes, programs and activities for students with disabilities. By using an interactive process, the center facilitates access either through determining a reasonable accommodation or by redesigning aspects of a University experience. Be sure to contact the DRC before you start classes at Purdue so they can better understand your experience and what you have found helpful and effective for your unique situation. It is easier to request an accommodation and not need it rather than not request an accommodation and try to catch up after the start of classes.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS strives to enhance the psychological health and personal effectiveness of students, thus empowering you to maximize your personal adjustment and individual accomplishments. In providing services, the staff attends to remedial, developmental, and situational concerns, recognizing that the interaction between the stress of the academic environment and your individual level of development can lead to problems that can be alleviated through therapy. CAPS works together with the university community to create an environment that assists students in understanding and responding to challenges and opportunities in a way that enhances their personal and academic development.
